The Artscroll Talmud...An essential tool or a Deterant to learning?

do you like it? love it? Is it an aid to your Talmud study? or your only source?

    I'm new to Talmud learning, and find it very valuable, but it all depends on the teacher or learning partner to ensure that you don't depend on a book too much...
